Presidents Report
Martin expressed the clubs thanks to Carol and Steve Skelly for organising the 2025 event
Regular annual meetings have been happening since 2010. Sometimes more than one in a year and in 2019 we had an International meeting. Martin explained that these meetings have given himself and Jenny the opportunity to make many new friends over the years.
Martin thanked David Brenchley for taking over the Membership role from 2024. Membership now sits at 263 with 11 new members this year.
Neil Mead was also thanked for all his work on the website that keeps us going in the on line world. 7,000 total views on our website. The most popular page continues to be
Buy/Sell. Emails with links are used a lot. Most visits to the site are from the UK 2nd highest from the USA.
There is a healthy programme of events: 20 cars were displayed at Brooklands Italian Day
Brands Hatch and Beaulieu later in the year.
Martin explained the history of the David Davies award. (David was a popular member of the club who sadly died of MND, an award for ‘best car’ was created in his name)
Martin expressed special thanks to Steve Skelly for his thoughtful and considerate leadership during the drives.
ITEM 4
Treasurer’s Report
Dave explained that the account is in VERY good shape. The main reason for this being the success of the ‘200’ club. See below).
Dave has shopped around for an account with 3.9% interest. £114 interest earned to date.
Chris Knott insurance continues to be of benefit to the group. Commission conditions have improved, the new owners have offered a higher rate and this equates to £546 this year alone. Quotes for insurance are competitive and so members were asked to consider looking at Chris Knott for their insurance if appropriate for them.
Dave explained the history and success of the (not very accurately named) 200 Club. There are currently 90 members. It was begun by the previous treasurer, Mike Barnes,
It is very successful for the group and has allowed the treasurer to pay for various extras at annual and other meetings. Dave would welcome more members to sign up. It costs only £30 a year per entry. 50% of the total income for the year goes in prize money so the total winnings depends on how many members there are each year. 4 prizes are split as follows
4th prize 1/10
3rd prize 2/10
2nd prize 3/10
1st prize 4/10
ITEM 5
Next Year’s Event
Sue Skelding had let it be known that if there were no new offers to arrange an event (ie from someone who has not done so before) that she and Dave would do “Cotswolds Part 2 – the South”. However, Richard and Karen Hutchinson kindly offered to plan an event around the Moors and Valleys of Yorkshire. This was enthusiastically responded to.
P.S. Hotel already booked in Ripley and 16 cars signed up – spaces still available 7th – 10th June 2026
ITEM 6
AOB
Best Car Award – there was a little discussion about how this award would be judged. It has been judged by staff members of the hotels in the past – But it was agreed that perhaps the cars should be judged by their peers – or at least their owners!
Everyone was given a voting slip (not allowed to vote for your own car)
The outright winner this year was MIL4110 (MILANO)
belonging to Michael McDowell
200 Club Draw Results:
Mike Barnes 4th place
Mick Backhouse 3rd place
Martin Johnson 2nd place
Colin Metcalfe 1st place (1st time the top prize has been won by someone at the meeting )
Winners were to be notified afterwards of the exact amounts of their winnings.
PS On 1st July all winners received their prize money
The meeting was closed and everyone retired to the bar …..
Sue Skelding Club Secretary
New member, David Earp. Thanks to Martin who introduced me to Mick Backhouse after hearing about my fuel tank woes.
I would like to join the 200 Club, I think I had an IT issue in trying to fill in the online form. I should be able to do it hard copy if I could have an address to send it to. I will try to scan and email a hard copy. If that doesn’t work, I will let Dave know.
David. Delighted that we could help with the fuel tank. As to joining the 200 Club, this should not present any difficulty. If you do encounter an obstacle don’t hesitate to ask Dave Skelding or myself. ( We’ll soon find a way to get your money off you!!!
