After a grey and wet Friday, luck was on our side on Saturday 4th May when the sun came out for the Auto Italia Italian Car Day at Brooklands. We have been meeting at this show for the last few years, but this was one of our best attended yet with eight club member’s cars on display along with two other Barchettas on site as well. It was great to catch up with some old friends and meet a few club members for the first time.
There was the usual mix of interesting machinery from Ferrari, Alfa Romeo, Abarth, Fiat, Lancia and Lamborghini both on display and featuring on the demonstration track and hill climb against a backdrop of some retired planes. Our special Barchetta parking under the wings of Concorde certainly attracted plenty of attention.
One noticeable feature was how colourful all the cars parked around the museum site looked, with the Barchettas all contributing to the spectacle with four yellow (three facelift cars!), three blue, one red, one green and one orange car which is now UK based after residing in Japan and Dubai. It certainly made a brief change from the seemingly grey dominated roads of today!
Many thanks to Mark, Carl, Eric, Ross, Reece, Angela and Alex for bringing their cars along and it was also good to catch up with another club member, Nigel, who was in attendance with his family and impressed us with his Barchetta knowledge!
Hopefully we will see you at another meeting soon. Please check our events page for details of what is coming up later this year.
Neil
What an impressive array of colour the Barchettas offer. Very pleased you had a good day with some members not previously met.
Thank you Neil
Great photos Neil. Nice to meet you on Saturday.
Thanks Eric and good to meet you too, thanks for coming along and hopefully see you soon.
Great photos! What a fantastic position for the Barchettas!
We certainly got lucky with the parking Tim!
It was really good to meet you Neil and also some of the guys who added their Barchettas to the list of cars on the day, making a great display of Italian style and elegance. I’ve owned a Barchetta since 2002 and there can’t be many jobs that I haven’t tackled, so if I can help anyone please drop me an e-mail. Kind regards, Nigel Sherwood
Thanks Nigel, we may well be in touch, thanks for coming to say hello.
Great photos! Looks like an awesome day 🙂
