Dear Members

We have just received a new proposal for a late Autumn trip. Paul & Sandy Ranson have put together a flexible ‘ extended day trip’ offer which could include a one or two night stay as an option. The dates proposed are: Monday 23rd. – Wednesday 25th October 2023.

The trip is based in the Cambridge area with drives out to explore the local area and one or two notable attractions.

The base for accommodation would be Madingley Hall ( just outside the city centre and near to Girton). A former stately home, Madingley is now a conference and training centre owned by the University of Cambridge (think Harry Potter style refectory / dining hall!).

• 23.10.23 Day one: arrival at Madingley Hall pm and evening meal.

• 24.10.23 Day two:( Meet in the car-park at Madingley Hall for those wishing to come for the day only).  Morning- Drive to Newmarket and visit to the National Horse Racing Museum followed by lunch in the Tack Room restaurant & cafeteria.

• Afternoon – Drive to the cathedral town of Ely with free time to explore the this pretty little town on the banks of the Great Ouse. Those wishing to stay on, return to Madingley for the evening and meal or depart from Ely for any wishing to make it just a day trip.

• 25.10.23 Day three: Flexible option…. short drive and visit to IWM Duxford  potential for group guided tours or free time to explore or depart after breakfast if preferred.
