Brooklands Auto Italia Day 2022

The weather was extremely kind for this year’s Auto Italia day at Brooklands on Saturday 30th April.  We had a total of six club member’s cars on display this year.

Parking was arranged a little differently than previously as we were unable to all park together due to arrival times, but we managed to catch up for a chat during an enjoyable day surrounded by numerous Italian exotics.

It was great to meet, for the first time, both Carl Williams, who brought along his late model yellow car, and Jeremy Kraft, with his son Link, who arrived in their red shiny Barchetta which was gleaming in the sun.

Also present was Sasha Adib-Yaghmai who we met previously at Brands Hatch whilst he was looking to buy a Barchetta.  He now has an excellent red Riveria model that he found with a little inside help from the club!  The previous owner was Llyn Bowen who had looked after the car with great care and was pleased to pass the car to another enthusiast.

It was also good to meet again Angela & Robert Emuss and previous club president Geoff Bowles who have both had their cars for quite some time now. I was lucky to hitch a lift in the lovely orange Barchetta belonging to committee member Mark Simmons as mine is not ready for the road just yet this year.  Mark managed to get a great parking spot under Concorde!

As usual there was plenty to see at the show including numerous Ferraris, Lambos, Alfas, Lancias, Abarths and Fiats amongst others. It was good to see a real mixture of high end but also some more affordable cars on display. There was action on the hill climb and demonstration track by Mercedes-Benz World plus all the excellent Brooklands museums to wander around.

Each time we attend a show, we now seem to receive increased interest from the public asking about the Barchetta together with lots of positive comments.  We are often asked if we know of any for sale, fascination in our great cars is building!

Fingers crossed that our meetings and shows will carry on in the same positive way this year,  please do keep an eye on the events page for details of what we have arranged or contact us if you have an idea for a meeting of any kind.
